Craving an experience that's both informative and delicious near Namur? The Wépion Strawberry Museum invites you to explore the history of this divine fruit on the banks of the Meuse River through the ages. This journey is facilitated by illustrated panels, unusual objects, interactive tablets, and games. It's an opportunity to acquaint yourself with the gastronomy, folklore, literature, art, and culture surrounding this iconic fruit of Wépion. Since when has the strawberry been cultivated in the Meuse Valley? Why did Wépion become the Belgian hub for strawberries? You'll find the answers to these questions and many more at the Strawberry Museum.
Your visit concludes beautifully with the discovery of the Little Fruits Garden, a 50-acre space featuring numerous varieties of strawberries and other small fruits, along with vines, an orchard, insect hotels, and a beehive. Learn to recognize the species and varieties present, whether indigenous or exotic. Indulge your eyes and senses in the delights offered by this magnificent garden, housing twenty regional fruit species and fifteen strawberry varieties, all available for on-site tasting, of course!
